THE FOUR DISCIPLINES

One card. Four areas.

These descriptions explain the inspection framework without promising a grade from any single characteristic.

01

CENTERING

The printed design’s position within the card borders is considered from the front and back.

02

CORNERS

Corner shape, points and visible wear are inspected for consistency and integrity.

03

EDGES

The perimeter is examined for chipping, whitening, print wear and other visible changes.

04

SURFACE

Front and back surfaces are checked for scratches, dents, print defects and other visible characteristics.

AXG SCALE

A 1–10 grading scale.

Finalized records display the overall numeric grade and grade label, including GEM MINT where assigned. When subgrades exist, they are shown on the certificate record.

110

Grades use half-point increments where applicable. A physical card must be inspected by AXG before a grade can be assigned.
